It is with great excitement that we welcome professional climber Melissa Le Nevé as headline speaker of the 2022 Women's Climbing Symposium on Saturday 12th November at The Climbing Hangar, Exeter!
Sponsored by Adidas Terrex, Adidas FiveTen and Edelrid, Melissa is a highly accomplished climber who specialises in bouldering and sport climbing.
Competing internationally for 8 years, Melissa was the French Bouldering Champion in both 2010 and 2013, placing 2nd at individual IFSC World Cup events in Slovenia (2013), Switzerland (2016), and Japan (2016).

In 2015, Melissa became the first woman to climb a set of boulders in Fontainebleau known as the "Big Five" (which included V11 problem Atrésie) before going on to climb La Cicatrice de L'Ohm (V13) in 2016 and then Mécanique Élémentaire (V14) in 2017. In 2014 Melissa made the first female ascent of Wallstreet, an 8c sport climbing route in the Frankenjura, and six years later made the first female ascent of Wolfgang Güllich's iconic route Action Directe (9a) in 2020.
Mind blown yet? Yep... ours is too! Melissa certainly likes to put up female first ascents and we cannot wait to celebrate that on the main stage at WCS22. Take a look at the video below for a better understanding of what made Melissa's historic ascent of Action Directe truly special.
